On its official launch last August 1, 2006, we already received warm responses from overseas Filipino basketball teams and even grabbed the interests of foreign sports organizations. Registration ran until September 30, 2006.
In just a span of two months, Isport BOTAK has been truly more than grateful and honored to have an overwhelming response from teams and sports organizations from all over the world. Qualified participants include entries from South East Asia, Middle East, Australasia, North and South America and Europe.
The grand draw held last October 12, 2006 was made even more memorable as the 1st Philippine Mt. Everest Expedition Team graced the occasion. The first Filipinos to summit the world’s highest peak, Leo Oracion and Erwin “Pastour” Emata together with the well-respected Team Leader, veteran mountaineer and former DOTC Undersecretary Art Valdez took part in Our Anniversary Treat celebration.
All your Ka-BOTAK here were ecstatic and proud to have these sports heroes and world-class athletes with us. The three share the same pride, spirit and joys of being Filipinos, and of making a great impact for the honor and glory of the country. Just as Isport BOTAK believes in the Filipino sportsmanship and workmanship, our Everest Heroes adhere to the capability of Filipinos in doing the extra-ordinary not just in sports, but in all endeavors of life. And so there it was, Mr. Art Valdez had drawn the entry of ATX Pinoys in Texas, USA as the lucky recipient Team of our anniversary give-away!!
