REVELATIONS BEHIND THE EVEREST STORY

GETTING CLOSE -- Continuation ...

Song for Everest

Pastour: (Thinks for a couple of minutes). Wala pa akong maisip for now eh.

Leo: Yung kanta ni Joey Ayala. (Then later on we convinced him to sing a few lines and he did! In fairness, he can sing)

‘Di ba tayo’y nandito upang maging malaya at upang palayain ang isa’t isa? Ang pag- ibig natin at walang hanggang paalam…  kahit magkalayo, magkalapit pa rin ang puso. At kahit magkahiwalay, tayo’y magkasama sa magkabilang dulo ng mundo.

And oh, there’s one more…

Leo: Para sa ‘yo ang akyat na ‘to. Hindi ako susuko, avalanche man o bagyo, para sa ‘yo ang akyat na ‘to!

(Pastour had to excuse himself by this time for an important phone call.)

Any eye for politics?

Leo: Politics? (high-toned) Yeah maybe someday I will be the President…. Well, if I would be the President of the Philippines, I will climb Mt. Everest again, hehehe.

If your son would tell you he wants to climb Everest too, will you support him?

Leo: Of course. Baka nga kahit 10 years old, paakyatin ko na eh if I have the resources.

If you were to live again, would you still choose to be a mountaineer?
